The Women's Pages is the brainchild of Marilyn Wetston and is developed with the assistance of Gisela McKay of pixcode Inc. More links will be added as print time approaches. Who is behind The Women's Pages?Marilyn Wetston
For over 30 years Marilyn Wetston has been acclaimed as the "Wardrobe Doctor". Also known for Marilyn's, her store in the Fashion District of Toronto, Marilyn is the busy host of a weekly radio programme on AM 740, and the author of regular columns in Osprey Media publications and magazines across Canada. Marilyn's (the store) is a fixture in Toronto's Fashion District, known as the best place for finding high end fashion at great prices. Featuring top Canadian and International designers, Marilyn has created a store policy to aid people in finding what works best for them rather than leaving shoppers to fend for themselves. The skilled image consultants at Marilyn's make sure that you leave the store happy with your purchases, knowing that they flatter your figure, fit your personal style, and will work well with existing pieces in your wardrobe. In fact, you are welcome to bring in clothing from your closet to match new pieces to what you already have! Marilyn is a firm believer in giving back to the community, and is known particularly for the work she has done on behalf of women. From charity fundraisers, to the Women for Women events she hosts in her space on Spadina, Marilyn Wetston "walks the walk". To that end, Ms. Wetston also houses a Women's Business Incubator in her store location in the heart of Toronto. If you are a woman with a small business and you would like to market your goods or services, you can rent a space as part of Marilyn's. This will enable you to do business with Marilyn's clients. Marilyn will help you promote your business as part of her radio show and any other related events. Business Mentoring is part of the package. The business incubator now offers a custom gift basket service for individuals and corporations, and Health and Wellness events. These goods and services are provided by the members of the Business Incubator. Other Projects:
Gisela McKay
Gisela McKay is the not-so-secret weapon companies deploy to reach their internet marketing goals. Chief Technology Officer of pixcode Inc., Ms. McKay heads up the development, maintenance, and marketing of their internet properties such as NaturalHealthcare.ca, BusinessPartnerships.ca, and CanadaEventsCalendar.ca. In addition, her expertise is highly sought after by organizations with substantial web initiatives that require an understanding of the entire process, from development through tracking, analyzing, and improving the results. BackgroundGisela has a solid background in technology and business practices, and she comes from a long line of entrepreneurs. Early on, she was Administrator and Operations Manager for her mother's answering service, one of the earliest to be completely computerized. This entailed overseeing the installation and maintenance of all related telephony systems in house and at client sites. This experience heightened her ability to listen to the challenges and frustrations expressed by small business owners and to match their needs with the right technology. While at the University of Toronto (studying Philosophy and Film Theory) Gisela took on a part-time assignment with a management consulting firm reorganizing their filing system. When they learned that she could apply the same skills to their file server, they asked her to stay on, and she worked her way through various positions including Practice Assistant, Technical Writer, Graphic User Interface Design, Database Administrator, and Developer. It was also here that she first put her web development skills to business use. Later positions saw her designing and overseeing the development of three different Content Management Systems, designing two pieces of Internet directory management software, and envisioning and creating the social networking software that runs Business Partnerships Canada. Past positions include Chief Technology Officer of a Canadian new media corporation and Associate Director of the byDesign eLab at the McLuhan Program (University of Toronto).
